Ottawa Folkfest has announced three more local artists for its 2014 lineup, including Jill Zmud, Made Noon and Saturnfly.

Made Noon, according to the band’s website, is “Martin Houde, from Dubreuilville Ontario, (who) keeps the beat on the cajon drum and cymbals. Norah Erickson, from Campbell River B.C., is on guitar and vocals. These upbeat performers play a mix of original and cover songs with a Made Noon twist.”

The duo has other dates coming up, including May 15 and June 20 at the Lunenburg Pub, May 17 at Mavericks, and July 3 at Mavericks. Click here to hear Made Noon’s music.

Saturnfly’s Facebook page has this delightfully odd and concise description — “Art-rock/Space pop with cello and synths.” The band’s webpage expands upon the debut EP Cyborg’s Lament, which is “based on an original sci-fi story of a cyborg who travels through space in search of truth and meaning. Saturnfly draws inspiration from post-rock, trip-hop and alternative music.”

Jill Zmud is a singer-songwriter, and brand new mom. Zmud and husband Alan Neal, host of CBC Radio’s All in a Day, recently had their first child. Zmud has also produced a new CD, a followup to as we drive quietly by, which the Citizen’s Lynn Saxberg described as the work of “a fine songwriter, gifted lyricist, strong guitarist and an inventive piano player.”

Zmud’s release show for the new CD is May 23 at the NAC’s Fourth Stage. See more info here.

Previously announced local acts for Ottawa Folkfest 2014 include:

Craig Cardiff

The Strain

Lora Bidner

Pony Girl

High Waters

The Noisy Locomotive

More acts are being released daily, until the full lineup reveal on May 14.
